About Wirral Youth Alliance:
The Wirral Youth Alliance is a new collaboration of youth providers and community organisations all working together to strengthen the provision of youth services and positive activities for young people aged 11+ across the Wirral. Together, we aim to build a more connected, youth-led offer that reflects the voices and needs of young people.
Partners include Shaftesbury Youth Club, The Hive, Equilibrium Northwest, Neo Community, WEB Merseyside, Leasowe Play Youth Association and others – all united in our ambition to ensure excellent, inclusive youth provision for the future. Thanks to funding from Magenta Living, we are now looking for a Co-Ordinator for 2 days a week to drive forward the alliance in a pivotal period.
About the Role:
We’re on the lookout for an energetic and driven Coordinator who can bring people together, collaborate, and champion the voices of young people. This is your chance to play a leading role in developing a vision for youth provision in Wirral, working with passionate organisations and partners to make a real difference.
You’ll be at the heart of the Alliance — building strong relationships, ensuring young people’s voices lead the way, and helping to turn a shared vision into real change on the ground. To succeed, you’ll need outstanding communication skills, a deep understanding of youth work in Wirral, and the ability to connect with and represent a wide range of stakeholders – especially young people themselves. You will work closely with member organisations, partners and young people to
ensure the Alliance is rooted in partnership and shaped directly by youth voice.
Key responsibilities:
Partnership and Mapping:
- Lead a comprehensive mapping of youth provision across the Wirral, including voluntary, public, and faith-based organisations.
- Build relationships with local providers to gather data on existing services, participation levels and reach
- Maintain strong working relationships with Alliance partners and ensure open, regular communication
Youth Participation and Voice:
- Establish and support a Youth Steering Group to guide the direction of the Alliance and co-design key elements of the work
- Ensure that young people are kept informed of progress, findings, and decisions throughout the project
- Design and deliver creative, inclusive consultation activities with young people to explore:
- What services they access (if any) and why
- Barriers to access
- Gaps in provision and ideas for new activities
- The support they need to thrive
Engagement:
- Explore opportunities to include the perspectives of parents, carers, and wider community members where appropriate
- Facilitate opportunities for young people across the Alliance to connect, including planning and delivering a joint residential to shape the Alliance’s next steps
- Promote the Youth Alliance to partners, young people, and others utilising social media
Coordination and Communication
- Provide coordination support to the Alliance steering group.
What we are looking for:
- A commitment to youth voice/leadership and partnership working
- Experience of coordinating community or youth projects
- Strong communication, facilitation and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and with diverse stakeholders
- Understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing youth services
